When am I eligible to enroll in Medicare?

Most people become eligible for Medicare when they turn 65. Your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) lasts for 7 months, starting 3 months before your 65th birthday month, including your birthday month, and ending 3 months after.

It depends on your employer’s size and health coverage. If you have group health plan coverage based on your or your spouse’s current employment, you may be able to delay Part B without a penalty. However, it’s crucial to consult with an advisor to understand your specific situation.

Depending on eligibility and availability, options may include accident, critical illness, hospital, dental, vision and other supplemental products.

Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans help pay some of the healthcare costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover, like copayments and deductibles. You can see any doctor that accepts Medicare. Medicare Advantage (Part C) is an alternative to Original Medicare provided by private companies, often wrapping Parts A, B, and D into one plan, usually with a specific provider network.
